Lagos Meet: Week-End (42) Summary
Hello Creator,
This week, we want to focus on a crucial topic that’s on everyone’s mind: ‘How to fund your creative project in Nigeria’. Many people will agree that there isn’t a simple answer to this question. Most creators have great ideas that need to become successful projects, but getting the money to do so is a major challenge. The banking and financial institutions often see the creative sector as part of the informal economy, which has its own set of issues.
According to this Live Talk that we held in collaboration with NuConti. We brought some of the people with direct experience with the situation of Funding Nigerian Creators to discuss why more hasn’t been done and what comes next.
You should queue this on your playlist, and listen to why the situation is as complex as it is, and what to do to prepare you to access funding.
The Speakers include: Ife Adebayo (National Coordinator, Investment in digital an creative enterprises programme iDICE), Fifehan Osikanlu (Founder & CEO, Eden Venture Group), and Mayowa Olusoji (Fund Manager, AT&T Consulting). The talk was moderated by Oluseye Soyode-Johnson (Founder, NuConti).
We promise, this is a really great conversation that puts things in perspective, while also laying down what you need to do to be investment ready, and how not to seem like a ‘walking hazard’ to financiers.
Here are the talented Nigerian creators we featured this past week:

Introducing the Official Trailer for Yekini: Animated Series. Yekini Animated Mini Series is a spin-off from the original project Gbenga began over 7 years ago, called FELELE!
“Our goal for Yekini is to create an 8 episode series of Youtube. I believe in Africa we have so many stories untold, and animation is a platform where we can tell many of these stories. When it comes to football in Nigeria and Africa, we are all familiar with that grass to grace story; there are so many things behind it, our aim was to show some of these in the Yekini project”
